Information, Terms & Conditions
DELIVERY AND FITTING: Lead time from order to fitting is usually between 2 and 4 weeks for most products. All goods remain the property of Classic Carpets (Border Counties) Ltd t/a Wyvern Flooring until paid in full.
CORRECT GOODS: Please ensure your floor covering is the correct colour/size before fitting commences.
TERMS: We ask for a 50% desposit please, without which your goods cannot be ordered. The balance is payable upon completion. We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue accounts at a rate of 2.5% above base rate. Please make cheques payable to Classic Carpets (Border Counties) Ltd. We accept all major debit and credit cards by telephone or at our showrooms.
CANCELLATION: If goods for your order have been cut or despatched at the time of cancellation – a cancellation charge will apply.
VALIDITY: The estimate is valid for 28 days and then becomes subject to review.
STORAGE: We are pleased to store goods for your order free of charge for 1 month. Thereafter storage may be charged at £25.00 per month or part of a month for each item. We are unhappy to store goods for periods in excess of 6 months (unless by prior arrangement) because of the risk damage and crushing of the pile.
OLD FLOOR COVERINGS, FURNITURE: We would be obliged if you would have the area(s) clear of old carpets, appliances, white goods, furniture etc, prior to our fitters visit. The charge for disposal of old floor coverings is usually £40 per room. We do not accept responsibility for any damage to furniture or electrical equipment that we move. Please let us know if you have any difficulties with these matters.
CABLES, TV'S, PC'S, SKY ETC: If you have technical equipment that needs moving to enable floor laying please ensure it has been done prior to our fitters arrival. No responsibility will be accepted for damage to under-floor pipes, cables or for consequential damage to property or fittings unless prior notification has been made.
DOORS: Unless agreed for in our estimate, door easing is at extra cost. Heavy, solid, fire doors, bespoke doors, etc may require a carpenter to ease at an extra cost.
CLAIMS: Any claims in respect of damage during fitting should be noted in writing within 48 hours. Please note that new paintwork/wallpapers should be allowed to fully harden before fitting commences.
UNSEEN FLOORS: This estimate is given in good faith and assumed that all of the preparatory work noted above will be sufficient to provide a workman-like finish. However, where the entire floor cannot be inspected at the time of survey, we reserve the right to make additional charges for any extra remedial work and materials incurred to make floor level, good or install damp proof treatments. Any such costs are to be agreed before work re-commences.
FLOOR COVERING/CARPET CHARACTERISTICS: Please take time to read the manufacturers information on samples. Of particular note you should bear in mind that shade variations may occur between samples and current production and between different widths. Light covered, velvet pile, and loop pile carpets show joins more so than dark, patterned or heathered products. Carpets using random blends of yarn can be striped effect which is inherent in the pattern.
SHADING: Is a natural phenomenon on any style or quality of cut pile carpets. Areas where foot traffic twist and turns (i.e., near stairs or favourite chair) can be especially prone to shading. This change in pile direction is not a manufacturing defect. Neither ourselves or our suppliers can accept a complaint of this nature. During transportation/storage carpet pile may become slightly crushed and this may show as shaded bands across the pile. These will disappear as the carpet settles into its new environment and as the pile is flexed through vacuum cleaning.
MAINTENANCE: Manufacturers are most happy with the use of suction only vacuum machnes. If you have a beater sweeper type of machine you should go easy on your new carpet until it has given up losing its initial "fluffing" or "fibre" loss. We recommend professional cleaning of spot stains.
UNDERLAY: All carpet benefits from the installation of good quality underlay. Re-using existing underlay may result in abnormal flattening of the pile.
AFTER SALES: If you notice your carpet/vinyl starting to ease, please live with this for 2-3 weeks while it settles and softens and then contact us to arrange for a re-stretch at no charge during the first 12 months.
We hope you enjoy your new flooring for many years to come.
